INTENDING candidates have been told to be wary of false prophets and promises and to put God first to be successful this general election.
Seventh-day Adventist pastor David Gairo said, at a party convention recently, that “the ideal man of success, was a person who obeyed God, one that was not suppressed or elevated to a selfish perspective”.
“Anything in Heaven or on Earth, you shall not bow down to them or worship them, for I the Lord your God, am a jealous God,” he said.
Gairo urged the candidates not to believe everything everyone was saying as they might be a wolf in sheep’s clothing, promising one thing but not being able to deliver.
“When we talk about putting God first, the way to be successful is that God must make the difference in you,” he said. “I know there are other factors that influence the system, not just people or voters who are influential, there are systems that are manipulated, abused and controlled.
“That’s the reason why a nation that is governed by selfishness, will never be successful, just look at all the evils we’ve created here in Papua New Guinea with all the unfulfilled promises, under the guidance of those who say they believe in God.”
Gairo said the presence of God should be with them in order to truly make a difference because they will be putting God first above earthly desires.
“His presence, influence and word must be in us, through us and out of us,” he said.
“Your influence must be seen, the word and the power of God must ooze out of your life as money and wealth is God’s business.”
“It should be God first and foremost, supplying us the money, not the other way around; with this God first principle, we must be honest with what we’re doing, PNG needs to change with God as first principle, not money.”
He encouraged candidates to bring change by seeking God first and the rest would follow.
