THREE pastors in Goroka, Eastern Highlands, are set for further training to improve their pastoral work in the province.
The Seigu United Church (UC) sent trainee pastors to acquire training in Theology studies at Metago Theological College in Port Moresby recently.
The trainees are Raymond Kirika from Nafempa UC in Kainantu, Ps Morris Knosse from Niru outreach in Okapa and Ps Samson Chillean from Komu UC at Seigu.
Families and friends farewelled the three men at the Goroka Airport on Monday with words of encouragement and blessings.
It will be a new experience for Ps Morris to board an aeroplane out of Goroka and to attend a college.
“This is my first time to leave home and I thank God for this opportunity with the challenges that will come with it,” he said.
“I trust God to be my guide through my studies and I thank the United church Eastern Highlands circuit (UC-EHC) for the support that to enabled me to go for studies.”
Kirika and Chillean acknowledged the support from the circuit which would ensure they travel safely and settle in for registration. Kirika will be taking a diploma course while Knosse and Chillean will be taking certificate courses.
Superintendent minister for UC-EHC Rev Emmanuel Kauna wished the men well and urged them to commit their time and studies to the Lord despite challenges and trials.
He said the circuit was privileged to send three students at one time for further studies.
He thanked leaders at Seigu UC for their spiritual nurturing and financial support.
