Pastors told to discuss sexual violence, abuse

THE Evangelical Lutheran wants all pastors to talk about abuses and family and sexual violence in church.
The church has also called on all churches and the government to provide sanctuaries for survivors of domestic violence and victims of abuse.
Assistant Evangelical Lutheran Church Bishop Reverend Lucas Kedabing said that pastors should discuss the issues of domestic violence and sexual abuse whemn they preach in church.
“This is a great social issue and have gone beyond how it was before,” he said.
“It must become a language of all churches to address. The domestic violence and sexual abuse must be integrated in church programmes and into activities of church health and education agency institutions.
“We should not just preach but teach. This is a ministry of Jesus.”
Kedabing said churches are not teaching enough, and with the recent cases of domestic violence and sexual abuse, it seems that people and society are saying that these issues are not being discussed enough by the churches.
“We must train families and its units of parents and children to fight spiritual warfare,” he said.
He said our future is in peril if fathers, grandfathers and uncles continue to abuse their family members.
He said pre-teachings about marriage and baptism are not done anymore.
