Pathway for registration

THE Papua New Guinea Civil Identity Registry (PNGCIR) will be working with hospitals around the country for birth registrations, PNGCIR registrar-general Noel Mobiha says.
Mobiha said three portable offices had been built through funding from United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (Unicef) and they would be sent to Angau Hospital in Lae, Goroka and Mendi hospitals.
He said when a child was born, its information would be recorded along with that of the parents and this would be shared by both the birthing hospital and the PNGCIR.
Mobiha said the partnership with Unicef would help the hospitals and PNGCIR keep records and data on births.
He said they were looking at ways to develop the process of collecting and sharing information.
