JORDAN Pat has waited seven rounds to make his debut for the SP PNG Hunters and the 21-year-old has promised to make it count.
The Gavina, Western Highlands, native has patiently bid his time in the Digicel Cup playing for the Agmark Gurias while the Hunters have had a forgettable start to the season winning just one of their opening seven games.
The back-rower sees today’s annual Kokoda Cup clash as a great way to debut in the Q-Cup.
“Being in the Hunters is all about being part of a team so I want to do my part for this side and help us win,” Pat said.
“It’s a big game for us and hopefully we can win the cup back.
“This will be my first game for the Hunters but as long as I do what is expected of me I will be happy with that,” the 96kg second-rower said.
Coach Michael Marum said Pat, who becomes Hunters No.81, got his chance after prop Dilbert Isaac was unavailable for the match because of his college exams.
“Jordan gets his chance with Dilbert not available because of his exams this week,” Marum said. “Jordan runs smart lines and is another big, mobile body in the pack.”
