Patriots get game-booster

A garment manufacturing firm has given a morale booster to the Patriots Volleyball Club in the Fairfax Volleyball Association competition, with new sets of uniforms.
Woo Textile PNG Ltd’s general manager Murray Woo was present to hand over the uniforms to the club executives and players.
It was an exciting moment for the club and look forward to celebrate their new uniforms, with big wins on Saturday at the Papua New Guinea Education Institute courts.
Club president Jon Kombeng said to receive uniforms from Woo was an great achievement for his club and thanked the firm for their kind gesture.
Patriots joined Volleyball Fairfax Association in 2012.
Their men’s premier team are currently leading the ladder as of the third game of the season last Saturday.
Patriots will play last year’s premiers Snipers in the main game this weekend, with hitters Andrew and brothers Rex and Kamilos set to shine.
Snipers will also put up good fight through hitters Micheal Kei, Tau Alu, Viken Vele, Mado Kila and new setter Maguli Benard.
In the weekend’s other games, Patriots’ women’s premier team will play reigning champions Snax Raukele Dolphins, who boast of PNG representatives, sisters Zoe and Perpetua Awadu, setter Josie Dick and returning player Marie Foo.
Coach Koavea Karulaka said his team looked forward to the rest of the season.
Volleyball Fairfax president Kila Dick said with the national championships just three months away, selection for the train-on squad would start this weekend.
“All players are expected to be in top form to be selected,” the founding president said.
