Patrol officer and leader dies

A MAN who served as a policeman under colonial rule has died in Kundiawa, Chimbu.
The late Nuglai Sakarias Ambane, a father of 12 children, 29 grandchildren and three great grandchildren died on Dec 11 after a short illness.
The late Sakarias, from Mandime village in Gembogl district, joined the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary in 1953 while serving as a housekeeper for a colonial administrator in the Western Highlands.
As a young policeman, he went on patrol with colonial administrators and served mostly in remote areas like Kandep, Porgera in Enga, Komo, Margarima, Kagua, Mendi and Tari in Southern Highlands, Anglimp and Bukapena in Western Highlands, Josepstaal, Aiome and Simbai in Madang and Karimui, Gembogl and Gunage in Chimbu.
