PNG Ports Corporation has announced a 4.7% wage increase across the board for its national employees.

‘’The board approved the increase at its meeting in Lae on (last) Thursday to compensate for the increase in prices of goods and services experienced in the country,” chief executive officer Stanley Alphonse said.

He said the increase would come into effect immediately and backdated to January 1.

PNGPCL employs over 800 people at 15 ports around Papua New Guinea and the latest increase to their wages complements the very attractive remuneration package it already offers for its employees, which give  the employees the flexibility to use their income in the way which best suits their priorities.

“Our employees are the best assets we have. They are the face of PNG Ports and it is they who drive the organisation to new heights, so it’s only proper that we look after them very well and in this case having their earnings have been indexed to strengthen their purchasing power,” Alphonse said.

Other benefits include flexible leave options for annual, sick and furlough leave, maternity and paternity leave, study leave and leave to represent the country in sports or meetings, and the discretionary annual bonus awarded to all staff in recognition of their contributions to the success of the company.
