THE Personal Development subject taught in schools encourages students to live a better life, Kilakila Secondary School teacher Dian Tumu says.

Tumu said this during the Grade Nine identity show last Friday which was part of the subject’s unit – exploring our identity.

Students were organised into provincial groups. They discussed the meaning of their flags and provincial identity and presented them for assessment.

Personal Development (PD) was introduced as part of the Outcomes-Based Education for lower and upper secondary level. It comprises two main components – personal development and sports/fitness. These include physical education, religious education, health, guidance and personal development.
