A SPIRITED Lae came from behind to beat Admiralty 3-2 in match played in the drizzling rain at the Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium on Saturday.

Captain and veteran midfielder Kohu Liem showed he was still the boss by leading his young guns whose best for the day was striker Clement Peka.

Liem, who scored Lae’s second goal by tapping the through the legs of Admiralty goal keeper John Bai, did so in spite of the slippery conditions and made strong runs throughout the match.

Peka grabbed a double, the first was an equaliser against Admiralty’s Moffat Kalifa, while the last was the match decider.

The Manus boys struck the fiest blow when striker Kalifa opened the score sheet in the 23rd minute.

From there the game was a series of stops and starts as playerrs adjusted to a wet surface.

Lae came back firing after the sideline lecture from coach Peter Gunemba with Peka slotting his first before Admiralty striker Mark Gobono responded to take his team into the lead.

Admiralty captain Michael Foster failed to find the net as did Liem but the Lae skipper equalised before Peka put the hosts ahead and Admiralty were kept out to the siren.
