A FOUR-day training on high-value coconut products processing at the Ramale ward in Kokopo, East New Britain, was attended by more than 300 people.
Kokopo MP Emil Tammur said coconut had by-products that could stimulate the economy.
Tammur said more should be done to improve the coconut industry in the province.
“Many of us who are working had benefitted from the coconut – meaning our parents paid our school fees by selling copra,” he said.
Tammur thanked the provincial Kokonas Indastri Korporesen team for expanding the commodity in every ward in Kokopo.
“I thank the Kokonas Indastri Korporesen for training the people on other products from coconut which they can sell to get an extra income for themselves,” he said.
He said coconut had 300 products which were all useful.
