People deliberately disobeying rules

Letters

IT seems that the good people of Eastern Highlands especially those in Goroka, find it difficult to follow the simple rules that are in place to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
By now we all should know what the disease is, how it is spread and so on from all the information and health awareness being made known and available to us.
The people are very stubborn and are acting as if everything is just as normal like before.
Suave betel nut market is crowded with people every day from Monday to Sunday.
People are still hanging around in front of stores without having any care at all.
Even the police who supposed to be actively enforcing the stated rules are seen mingling with the people at the market buying and chewing.
The disease is contagious and if it makes its way up to the Highlands, it would be a very big disaster for us if we can’t listen and comply with simple safety rules.
It is sad because it is not the children and the elderly people who are doing this, but the strong young men and women who are supposed to be helping to extend the awareness messages to the unfortunate ones.
Let’s take heed of the safety measures that are in place and help the containment and mitigation strategy set in place by the Government to stop and slow the spread of Covid-19 in our country.
