People of Madang need answers from leaders

THE Madang provincial government leaders and their agents should take stock of their actions and start delivering services to the people.

Recent revelations by the chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC)  on the misappropriation and maladministration by the Madang government finances leave nothing but an immediate remedial action by the governor and other leaders.

The National’s report of Ken Fairweather’s comments also adds spice to the public accounts reporting (Feb 17).

The Madang government was ranked  one  in  PNG when I was the premier.

We championed in rural development from 1986 to 1994.

The administration was able to build six new schools every year, four aid posts, kilometres of roads, airstrips, jetties, maintenance of infrastructure and many more.

We had less money to spend at the time but the services were reaching the people.

Today, there is too much money but nothing is happening.

The people of Simbai and Arabaka have yet to reach Madang by road.

What about the road built from Akraski to Aiome-Simbai and Kaironk?

When is the Sogeram-Ramu leg opening up to give access to Middle Ramu people?

When are the people of Tapen-Teptep coming down to Malalamai to catch a boat to Madang?

What about the Malalamai-Gabutamon road we started some 20 years ago?

What about the profitable business arm of the Madang government that I left with a healthy K2.5 million?

Where is all the money?
