People praised for patience last year
The National, Wednesday 06th March, 2013
REGIONAL member for East New Britain Leo Dion thanked the people in the province and the provincial administration for their patience and understanding during election last year and the dispute of returns.
He said his win was an indication of the work his government had been doing in the last decade in administering their functions and duties.
He said the petition filed against his win was struck out in court and called on all the people to move on and continue to contribute positively to the development of the province.
“I urge all our leaders in the province, MPs, local level government presidents to work together in consultation with each other in terms of exercising our responsibilities and functions.
“I also want the people to know that I am still the duly regional member and as such I am required by law to be present at times in the province to carry on my functions as the regional member.
“I will contribute my knowledge and experience in the provincial assembly and visit LLGs and attend joint district planning and budget priority committee meetings whenever I am required.
“I am prepared to assist whenever it is possible,” he said.
“The government system in the country is ruled by law and we have to comply with
them.”
Dion thanked the people, leaders, public and private sectors for raising the standard of the province.
He also thanked the churches for providing services to areas the government could not reach, adding the provincial administration would continue to support them financially through the provincial budget.
