People told to report failed engineering work

PEOPLE who come across failed engineering work should tell the Institution of Professional Engineers PNG (IEPNG) to investigate, says chief executive officer Benedict Mike.
He said failed construction work such as roads, bridges and drainage systems should be reported to IEPNG.
Mike said engineers from outside Port Moresby would be engaged to investigate complaints in the capital, while Port Moresby engineers would attend to complaints in other provinces.
He said if there were any engineering violations by construction companies, IEPNG would check their company profile, how they got a licence.
Mike said a penalty of K200, 000 would be imposed upon a company, if found guilty.
He said companies that did not register their engineers under IEPNG would be fined K10, 000 for each of them.
