People urged not to lose hope over money

LACK of funding should not get in the way of people having faith and belief in doing something for their community if they put their mind to it and do everything possible to achieve it, a local level government president said.
Such an achievement was witnessed recently when the people
of Malie Island in Ward 12 in Nimamar LLG, in New Ireland, dedicated the renovated St Theresia Catholic Church and the St Paul Mission Station Wall after seven years of hard work.
Nimamar president Ambrose Silul told the dedication ceremony that the event was a realisation of the biblical testament that without money they could still do something for themselves, if they put their faith and belief in it.
“Recalling the decision by their ancestors in 1964 to pull down their old church and replace it, Silul remembered that some people laughed at the idea and asked where they would get building material and money from to build another church.
He said the dedication of the two projects by the predominantly Catholic Church on Malie Island was an example of their faith and belief.
Silul thanked the people of Komat in Ward 6 for giving them gravel, people of Ward 10 for the boulders and the mothers of Ward 1 for the sand.
He praised the people of Malie for working without being paid
to complete work on the two projects.
