People will listen to a medical professional

Letters

I SUGGEST the Government make some changes as per the current approach in responding to the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
Appoint the right people to oversee the situation; establish provincial Covid-19 control centres; decentralise the National Control Centre’s powers and empower provincial centres; and, appoint provincial health CEOs to take charge.
People with medical backgrounds are the appropriate people to lead in such situations.
People will surely understand and make informed decisions if a medical expert issues instructions based on scientific research.
I call on the Government to reshuffle the current position of pandemic controller and appoint a medical professional.
David Manning is doing a great job and it’s not my intention to say that he isn’t performing well, but the level of hesitancy and reluctancy in following the “New Normal” suggests that a law enforcement chief spearheading the control centre is the main reason why people do not want to follow the instructions.
The Government is trying its best, but it seems they (Government) is using the law to force it’s citizens.
A responsible government always makes responsible decisions.
Establish provincial control centres and let medical experts control the situation and let’s see how people react.
