PEOPLE with disability in East New Britain who missed out on voting in the 2012 national elections have been given an opportunity to enroll today and tomorrow.

They will be taken to Callan Services office at Vunapope in Kokopo where the enrolment exercise would be conducted to register and vote in this year’s LLG presidents and ward councillor’s elections.

A launching was held yesterday to mark the start of registration for those with disabilities in the electoral roll and was attended by provincial election manager Joab Voivoi, members of the provincial election steering committee and assistant returning officers.

Senior inclusive officer with Callan Services in Kokopo Emmanuel Melchior said that all disabled eligible voters had the right to vote in the elections.

Kokopo was one of the centres that had the enrolment exercise extended to, from Port Moresby apart from Lae and Mt Hagen.

Voivoi also urged eligible voters to check their names on the electoral roll and register. Assistant returning officers have been training village recorders to undertake this task.

He added that by the end of this month, the updated electoral roll would be sent to Port Moresby.
