THE PNG Paralympics Committee will be celebrating the International Day of Persons with Disability in their special way today.
For the first time, the PNGPC will be hosting a gala concert at the Crowne Plaza featuring the Braillie Boys Band from Mt Sion Blind School in Goroka, the Deaf Dancers from Red Cross Special School and other musicians from St John Blind Centre and Cheshire Home.
The concert will start at 6pm and end at 8pm.
The concert is supported by the United Nations Development Programme through the Department of National Planning.
PNG Paralympics Committee president Bernard Chan said after the successful hosting of paralympics events at the recent PNG Games, it was a time of celebration and “let’s keep on going”.
He was hoping to raise more awareness on what people with disabilities could do and also raise funds for future activities for the athletes with a disability.
He said the PNG Paralympics Committee had a very busy programme for the next three years leading up to the 2012 London Paralympics Games and PNG needed all the support it can.
The Brialle Boys Band from Goroka have been busy rehearsing for the big day.
