PETE’S PUNCHLINE

Sports

  • POM City coach Frederica Sakette’s concern about the imbalance of the WNSL after the last transfer window has merit. But that is something for the organisers to take note of and go over in the post season. In the meantime my dear, why don’t you just promote someone else and see what they got. They might surprise you.
  • The PNGNRLC has come under fire for rejecting the bids of the three new teams. It wasn’t so much that the bids were rejected (that was disappointing enough for each bidder) but the reasons given. It was inconsistent, to say the least.
  • Tom Brady is the greatest NFL quarter back of all time. Max Kellerman reckons he’s the GOAT, period. I think Jerry Rice still has that title. Rice, a wide reciever, simply did more work on the field, and boy could he work it.
  • While everybody’s talking about the GOAT, Floyd Mayweather refers to himself as TBE (The Best Ever).
  • Great win by England over India in the first test in Chennai. Joe Root was great as captain and player, he scored a double century and led well. Was surprised to see it was actually his 100th test. Didn’t know he had been around that long. Some say he’s now firmly part of the Fab Four – Steve Smith, Virat Kohli, Kane Williamson and Root. I agree.
  • Charlotte’s La Melo Ball is doing well for a 19 year old in his rookie season in the NBA. I did say he was one to watch at the start of the season. Big bro Lonzo not doing too badly himself at the Pelicans.
  • Master Jamuga Stone’s Body Overhaul programme is targeting the 45-60 set. I think I’ll try that. – PGTP ([email protected])
