PETROMIN PNG Holdings Ltd has supported this year’s World Environment Day with K10,000 to the Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC).

The theme for this year’s United Nation World Environment Day celebrations is “Think. eat, save” a campaign against food wastage and loss.

Petromin general manager Sam Inguba presented the K10,000 cheque to Acting DEC Secretary Gunther Joku at Petromin Haus on Tuesday.

“Petromin, as a corporate entity, has a strong corporate social responsibility to the environment and feels obligated to assist in preserving and protecting the environment, and our assistance to advocate during World Environment Day is a demonstration of being a responsible corporate citizen,” Inguba said.

The chief executive of Tolukuma gold mine, a 100% owned subsidiary of Petromin, said Petromin had been supporting and participating in World Environment Days in the past years and would continue to do so.

Joku expressed gratitude to Petromin, especially Inguba for his foresight and continued support for the environment.

“We are grateful that Petromin  still feels obligated to fight the cause for environment protection and preservation, it’s a demonstration of corporate social responsibility,” he said.
