CHRIS Pevy took out the first Big Gun Enduro race at Roku Beach over the weekend.
The unofficial first event on the Port Moresby Motorcycle Club calendar attracted a small but devoted cadre of motorcycle enthusiasts for two hours.
Jason James, on a Husaberg 570cc, ran away from the pack and held the early lead until a mistake saw him crash, paving the way for Pevy to take the lead and eventually win the race.
Pevy was on a Yamaha WR250cc and challenged James for several laps before the mistake helped him glide to the front.
It was a two-hour event, with the winner doing the most laps in that time.
Steve France, Troy Dean and Brad found the going tough on the tight and dusty track, with Troy and Brad retiring around the hour mark.
France, on a Yamaha Quad, muscled on and finished in third place, with Jason James Husaberg 570’s 19 laps in second place.
The Port Moresby Motorcycle Club meets at the South Pacific Motorsports Club most Thursday evenings. Visitors are welcomed.
