Pharmaceutical products

Letters

IN the 1990s, there was a proposal from a Pangu Pati strong man, from Enga, to set up a pharmaceutical manufacturing plant in the country.
It did not eventuate because there was no like mindedness in the government.
The InterOil Refinery at Napa Napa got the nod and its history in the making to trigger the Papua LNG. It’s all applied science. The huge budgetary expenses on pharmaceutical products would have created thousands of jobs, within production and research, and maintain generic drug security for the country.
Security in food, energy, medical supplies is vital for the country.
It will come a time when many countries will need to feed themselves first before they trade surplus products to the outside world.
PNG has to be prepared for that.
