GAZELLE’s hurler Navas ha Pilak holds the key to a first grand final berth when they face minor premiers Stingerz in Port Moresby women’s softball.
Pilak’s return to the city’s representative side for next month’s national titles in Kokopo has pumped the performance of 24-year-old East New Britain/East Sepik lass.
Her dynamic fielding and batting performance has contributed to the antelopes’ surge up the ladder in the second round of competition.
Father Patrick was a former international pitcher and Navasha is following his foot steps but she is an all rounder – whether with bat, ball or glove she will deliver.
Gazelle will also call on the experience of Mectil Raymond, Jenny Pilak, Mathilda Pondriket and Shirley Kalimet to shore up their game.
Expected to rise on the occasion is second baseman and left hander Jessica Tonga, third baseman Rosalia Sam, outfielder Talitha Pondriket and Jude Fox.
Kambiu told The National that training had been different this week with an aim for a win to pass their first hurdle and that is booking the first grand final spot.
