Pilots’ death lesson to learn

Letters

SYMPATHIES have continued to be expressed in this paper regarding the latest air tragedy which claimed the life of a young pilot David Tong.
After the crash the injured pilot was still alive when he called his employer North Coast Airline (NCA) for help on his mobile phone. NCA did all it could to rescue David but were prevented by the heavy cloud cover, lack of helicopter and emergency rescue team based at Nadzab Airport.
The rescue team came all the way from Porgera Mine.
I hope the appropriate authorities have learned from these tragedy and must prepare well in responding swiftly in any future incidents by basing in all major airports like Nadzab, Kagamuga, Boram and Tokua the emergency rescue teams including paramedics and emergency helicopters at least some lives can be saved in future air tragedies.
