TNT Air Cargo’s strong defence enabled them to beat Mazda BT50 3-1 in the Port Moresby Industry Touch Association’s first round of matches at Coronation Primary School on Sunday.
Scores were level 1-1 at interval but TNT’s fast pace and slick passing saw them score two unanswered tries in the final half to win.
The other matches the National Petroleum Company PNG scooped double wins over The National Mix 3-2 and Men’s 4-3 but lost 5-4 in the Women’s.
PITA president Joe Yore said the 12 clubs were all advised to meet all the requirements such as club affiliations, player registrations and full uniforms with deadline set for this weekend.
Yore said clubs and players who failed to meet the requirements will be penalized with forfeits of their respective games.
He added that the under 16 boys and girls competition will start after next week so far five schools have indicated to play.
However, Yore has extended open invitation to another five schools to join.
Yore said all schools will play under respective clubs as their feeder clubs for future development.
Meanwhile Yore said another three more new clubs have expressed their interests to join the association but a special meeting on Thursday will confirm their inclusion.
