NAWAEB MP Gisuwat Siniwim has paid K30,000 to PNG Power Ltd to carry out a survey on how best to supply electricity to people in the district.

A statement from the company said the funding would cover a study on how to provide 30km of powerline from Erap Boys Town in the Markham Valley to Boana government station in the mountains.

Additional funding will cover high and low voltage line extensions along high voltage lines, installation of step-down transformers and connections to customers.

Investigations and surveys are expected to start this week and construction is scheduled to start in July.
