Plan made to ID landowners

CLAN-vetting will be conducted to establish the integrated landowner groups and identify the legitimate landowners of the Sirinumu dam, says Public Enterprise and State Investment Minister William Duma.
Duma told The National that clan-vetting would be carried out by Eda Ranu and PNG Power.
“Once we establish the landowners, we can come up with a proper memorandum of understanding (to) help us avoid problems in the future,” he said. Meanwhile, he has called on the people to bear with the blackouts.
“All these electricity infrastructure and turbines were built in the ’60s and because of the lack of attention they have deteriorated badly,” he said. “PNG Power has been doing rehabilitation and upgrading them.
“That’s why some parts of the city have been having blackouts. It will benefit everyone in the long run. So bear with us during the blackouts as we are only trying to rehabilitate and maintain the existing electricity infrastructure and turbines.”
