Planned vaccination drive to communities yet to commence

PEOPLE in Port Moresby communities are not turning up for the Covid-19 vaccination so it will be taken closer to them from Monday, a doctor says.
Health authority acting chief executive officer Dr Maru Garo said the vaccination programme in the districts started yesterday, with the aim of getting more people vaccinated from the communities.
The National visited the three health facilities (Kaugere clinic, 6-Mile clinic and Gerehu hospital) in the districts yesterday that were scheduled to start vaccination but they had not started.
Attempts to get comment on why the vaccination had not started were unsuccessful.
Currently, the Covid-19 vaccination under the health authority is ongoing at Rita Flynn where anybody above 18 can go to receive either the first or second dose of AstraZeneca vaccine.
People between 18 and 60 can go to the Port Moresby General Hospital to receive the Sinopharm vaccine.
