Plans for Isapea to get incentives
The National – Friday, March 11, 2011
WITH the Gulf Isapeas confirmed for this year’s Digicel Cup challenge, Governor Havila Kavo is expected have more incentives in place for the franchise and the players.
The governor’s executive officer said it was Kavo’s dream and vision to have a team from the province participating in the semi-professional league competition.
Witnessing the enlistment of players yesterday, Gawi said the governor would ensure there were better incentives for them.
He added that the provincial government was willing to help if the players did their part.
“Important stakeholders will be coming next year and the governor is willing to see the Isapeas move forward with provisions of various incentives,” Gawi said.
Some of these incentives include individual player development programmes, training gear, minor sponsors for each player among others.
It was the governor’s vision to provide a professional player base to select the best players for next year.
Gawi urged intending players to shape up and improve their performance if they were keen on making the team for this year’s challenge.
“This is a window that will open up for each of the players to reach greater heights in their rugby league careers,” he said.
