Player assists own club with cash, balls

A RUGBY league team in Mt Hagen has received K400 in cash and four new rugby balls from a player last week.
James Michael, an A Grade player and the captain of the Mt Hagen City Rangers rugby league club has come to the aid of his team-mates by donating the money and the equipment.
Michael said that as a player he decided to help his team and the management to complete the season.
He added that everyone has to contribute to promote and help their team.
“I’m also a player but that does not mean that I have to depend on the management to seek sponsors and bring the team forward.
“I believe that with the little I have, I can help my team to go through the season without any hiccups,” Michael said.
Ranger’s president Kepsy Kiap thanked Michael for the support.
He said that this is the first for him to receive such support from a player and urged others to practice it.
“I want to commend Michael for his initiative,” Kiap said.
