Players may move: Suwae

NO club should deny a player from moving to another franchise during the National Soccer League’s transfer windows unless they are bound by a contract, says an official.
“If the player concerned is bound by a contract to fulfil certain obligation within the said contract, then the club intending to get the player and the player concerned should fulfil that obligation before the player can be released,” Roosje Suwae told The National yesterday.
The Papua New Guinea Football Association competitions director said that after The National asked for a comment on Hekari United’s attempt to recruit Gulf Komara’s David Taro during the mid-season transfer window which closed on Sept 15.
Hekari had requested for Taro’s release during the transfer window, however, the club reportedly approved his release after the period had lapsed.
“There must not be any delay tactics seen to be used to jeopardise the transfer of the player concerned,” Suwae said.
“There was an email sent to Komara (by Hekari) well before the deadline of the transfer window.
“But because Komara did not respond as expected, Hekari’s management called my office and informed me of the issue.
“I communicated with both clubs by email, but I was just informed that Hekari will now take the matter to the association’s disciplinary and ethics committee.
“So I will await the committee’s decision.”
Meanwhile, Suwae said there would be a transfer window at the end of the season.
