Please use real names

Letters

PNG television presenters must use their real name when conducting a very professional program or show.
An example would be EMTV’s Good Morning Show.
A presenter on this show uses a nickname.
I don’t know if that is a marketing strategy for EMTV, however, it seems childish and unprofessional.
There are many reasons why presenters must use their real names.
Some include source of reference – people and especially students need to make references to a source of information.
If the source of information was EMTV Good Morning Show, and the nicknamed presenter was to be listed, it defeats the purpose of referencing when nicknames are used.
Not to mention a court of law.
Media responsibility – I do not know about media code of ethics but in this globalised world, people all over the world watch our programmes online.
Good Morning Show is not a kid’s fun show.
Personal respect and role model image – the presenter must be a role model to the future generation who watch the show.
TV influences many children.
We do not want future TV presenters who would like to use their nicknames.
This is PNG and we are proud of our surnames, our identities.
A real name and surname tells a lot of stories.
Be proud.
Something for EMTV management to think about.
