PM’s Excellence Award attracts 80 applications

 MORE than 80 applications have been submitted so far for the Prime Minister’s Excellence Award on September 15.

Project manager George Bopi said this would be the start of the annual event.

“The application response has been good and the awards committee can now go through the applications so we could come up with the 21 finalists,” Bopi said.

The two categories are for organisations and individuals. “From the three finalists, only one will receive a trophy and the awards will be presented by Prime Minister Peter O’Neill,” he said.

“The purpose of the award is to recognise the effort by an organisation and individual on service for their communities often in very challenging circumstances.”

He said the award will motivate people to work hard in contributing to the development of this nation to improve the lives of rural people.
