PRIME Minister Peter O’Neill has told Parliament that he is still waiting for the final report on the Special Agriculture and Business Lease (SABL).

In the last parliamentary session, members of the SABL Commission of Inquiry had assured the public and the government that they would release a full and final report on the inquiry.  But neither the government nor Parliament has received it.

Responding to a question on the report, O’Neill said he was not satisfied with the response from the commissioners.

“Several sittings ago, I presented the report on floor of Parliament,” he said.

“I was not satisfied with it and have asked them to give a full and final report. They said they would give report within months and that time has lapsed.

“To date I have not heard from them. It has dragged on and so I will seek advice from the Department of Justice and Attorney-General on what to do next as time and money cannot be wasted.

“Substantial amounts of money were put into this.”

O’Neill said the House would be informed once the report was received.
