PM backs Muruks

 PRIME Minister Peter O’Neill led the support for the Mendi Muruks to return in the 2014 Digicel Cup with a K200,000 contribution during their major fundraiser in Port Moresby on Thursday.

The contribution stemming from his Ialibu Pangia funding was part of a major push from several high profile politicians and business houses keen to see the Southern Highlands franchise back on track. 

With O’Neill leading by example for his fellow Southern Highlanders, the fundraiser proved to be a major success with K2.6 million raised from the sale of tables and an auction of jerseys.

Muruks board chairman Isaac Joseph said he was delighted.
