PRIME Minister James Marape has invited the private sector and the business community to work in partnership with the government for greater prosperity.
Marape, in his address at the Speaker’s Investment Summit yesterday, said the health of the country, economically and socially, was tied to success of it businesses and finding the right “pitch” or balance was crucial.
“We want to partner you well but we also feel that we have to gain for our country and so finding the right pitch is something that we all must endeavour to reach,” Marape said.
“Because when we have a healthy prosperous wealthy PNG, those of you who have businesses in this country will be here for a very long time.
“I ask every one of you work with us, some of the announcements and pronouncements that we made are off the cuff but they come straight from the heart and they are backed by our experience from the past.”
Marape said the Government needed to do better next year and onwards as there was huge potential.
“If we grow this potential together, every one of us will go forward, and those of you in this room, businessmen and women, will enjoy life in the 2020s and beyond.
“Time lost is an opportunity wasted and we must propel ourselves to the right place.
“I will be visiting government officials with the respective ministers over the next few weeks to ensure that the right talent is placed in key departments so that together we can make it happen for this country.”
