PM commended for standing firm

Letters

I COMMEND the Prime Minister James Marape for his stands on protecting our resources.
The State negotiation team has not secured a deal for the P’ynyang gas field with developer ExxonMobil after two months of meetings.
The Government’s terms and conditions on any development projects should be taken seriously by any foreign developing partners to prove that PNG cannot continue to be sold cheaply.
All gold mining, oil and gas projects on both land and sea should benefit Papua New Guineans.
Let us be mindful that after the completion of these projects, the developers would pack up and leave with billions, leaving behind many damages to the environments.
PNG require any development partners but the Government and people’s interest should come first in all negotiations.
Finally, prime minister, you are taking the right step to protect this country’s resources from being exploited.
I salute you and wish you well and in good health to keep leading our country forward without fear or favours.
