PM doing his best

Letters

YOU can give Prime Minister James Marape countless names and titles.
You can even call him corrupt, incompetent, ignorant and arrogant.
You can call him a liar but he is just a human being trying to sail a rough ocean in a season of storms and cyclones.
Only a few who have crossed that path will understand the struggles and challenges of captaining a ship in stormy weather.
Marape is doing his best during this time of the Covid-19 and economic struggles.
During the last two years, his Pangu-led government make necessary legal and policy reforms to set a better foundation for our economy and governance system.
Unfortunately, the political turmoil and tussle of power in Waigani has hindered the smooth progress of the Government.
Marape was not given ample time to restructure the deteriorating and dysfunctional economic and government system.
He has come up with a national vision to “Take back PNG” and make it the richest black nation on earth.
This vision is neither his or the politicians’, it is a national dream that everyone must work together to achieve.
That visions sets the foundations for us to work on.
Hence, Papua New Guineans must not expect Marape to perform miracles in such tough times as he is not God.
He is just human.
The problem with us is that we think politicians have the solutions to all our problems.
We are the solutions. For those who think Marape is not doing a good job, you can help yourselves when you vote in next year’s elections. But for now, let’s stay united and fight our common enemies.
Let’s work together as one people, one nation and one country.

Nason Mul Solo,
