PM: Find investment opportunities

PRIME Minister James Marape, pictured, has called on provinces to find investments opportunities in agriculture, tourism and the extractive industry.
Speaking during the 2019 PNG Update forum in Port Moresby yesterday, Marape said cabinet would be announcing economic zones in the regions to avoid provinces depending on Waigani.
“We want to build a system of government that is fair, equitable and friendly, shifting away from Waigani into the provinces,” he said.
“Our provinces must generate revenue.
“If your province is geared towards agriculture, grow agriculture; if your province is geared towards tourism, grow tourism; if your province is in oil and gas then we will do downstreaming and other value-added improvements in this sector.”
Marape said he would announce about 18 specific economic zones next month.
