PM, govt must come good on many issues
The National, Monday March 31st, 2014
WE need independent investigations into the country’s affairs.
While I am not accusing anyone of wrong doing, the people will breathe easier if the government or Prime Minister Peter O’Neill clears the air on some issues.
I am certain O’Neill would be the first person to call for independent inquiries if he is in the opposition.
Many of the issues involve a lot of money.
Firstly, there is the blown-out contract given to China Railway Construction Engineering for the 2015 Pacific Games projects when other tenders were a lot cheaper.
Then there is the medical supply contract given to Borneo Pharmacy which is linked to sub-standard drugs.
What about the fugitive Djoko Tandra who was given a citizenship?
Then there was the PNG Sustainable Development Programme and now the K3 billion loan from UBS to buy a 10.1% stake in Oil Search Ltd.
The people who preach about fighting corruption need to clear the air over the above issues because all of them appear to be been approved under suspicious circumstances.
We have to learn the meaning of good, transparent leadership or else invite Australia back to teach us how to be good and effective citizens.
