PM happy with Usino-Bundi plan
The Usino-Bundi district five-year development plan is focused on delivering services to the rural people, MP Jimmy Uguro said.
Uguro, who presented the development plan to Prime Minister Peter O’Neill on Friday, said the rural electrification programme and the roofing iron project was all part of the plan.
He was speaking at the commissioning of a number of projects which included the roll-out of the rural electrification programme as part of the PNG Electrification Partnership Programme.
Among the list of activities for the day was the presentation of the five-year development plan.
O’Neill thanked Uguro for delivering services to his people.
“We must support this leader who is bringing services to the rural communities including the rural electrification programme, iron roofing, commissioning of EMTV and many more.
“As local member he has presented the five-year development and the projects that he had implemented and he deserves the support of this government.
“Last five years, 2012 to 2017, the focus was to deliver services right to the doorstep of the people and the introduction of the District Services Improvement Programme is in line with that.
“All districts for the first time have received K10 million each year. If the leaders are strong and the public servants have worked hard, we will experience the benefits of this funding because this is a lot of money.
In the last five years we gave K50 million, in 2018 we gave K10 million and another K10 (million) is expected in 2019.
“I am here to support your leader (Uguro) because he has delivered projects, including power and telecommunications, internet and broadband services.
“The people in Bundi will receive electricity and this will transform the country.”
Bundi LLG president Victor Managi said that within the nine months they had seen a lot of changes that would benefit the people.
“Under the leadership of O’Neill-Abel government, we have seen developments in our district and we want to thank the prime minister and our member,” Managi said.
