AFTER 37 years of independence, the people of Chimbu recently had to face reality.
Team Chimbu had to spend almost K2 million to send its athletes to compete in the 5th PNG Games in Kokopo.
For many of the athletes, it was a trip of a lifetime.
Chimbu is not the only province affected by the high cost of travelling.
Other provincial teams also faced the same problem.
In light of the high cost of travelling, I call on Prime Minister Peter O’Neill and IPBC Minister Ben Micah to work with the airlines companies such as Air Niugini and Airlines PNG to make travelling within the country cheaper for the common people of Papua New Guinea.
This, in my pionion, will be the litmus test of their leadership.
