PRIME Minister Peter O’Neill has sent his condolence to the family of the late Charles Parinjo.
In a media statement yesterday, he said he was sad that such a young police officer’s life had been cut short
“He had lots to offer this country; he was doing quite a lot not only for his province but for PNG as a whole.
“I am sorry that his life was tragically cut short.”
O’Neill wanted the police to ensure that those responsible were brought to justice.
Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare also expressed great sadness and regret over Paringo’s death.
“Parinjo was a disciplined officer who carried out his responsibilities with distinction,” he said in a statement.
“All leaders and people of East Sepik admired his commitment to law enforcement which he has done almost single-handedly in the past.
“His sudden death is a real loss to the people of Wewak and East Sepik as a whole. He was the Wewak Police Station Commander at the time of his death. He was a real asset to the Royal PNG Constabulary.
“An investigation has to be carried out and perpetrators must be brought to justice. His death was unwarranted and very difficult to accept for me, my family and I am sure for many people throughout the province.”
