PM taken to task by Buang people

BULOLO MP Sam Basil has been asked by his Buang people to tell them when Prime Minister Sir Michael Somare will honour a commitment made to them early this year for infrastructure worth more than K2 million.
According to Mr Basil, the Prime Minister had pledged K2.1 million for Buang bridges and culverts, K50,000 for four Buang schools, K5,000 for the completion of Buang delivery ward and another K5,000 for the Timini Trumpet group.
He said Sir Somare also said through the Public Investment Programme (PIP), he would fund the
feasibility studies for the Wau to Garaina and Tapini road to connect Port Moresby.The commitment was made when Sir Michael was invited as the guest of honour to open the Gabensis to Buang road access at
Muniyau village.The Mapos and Gwem people asked Mr Basil on Christmas Day when Sir Michael would be
delivering on his promise. Mr Basil was in the village to celebrate the festive season with them.
Mr Basil said the villagers had high hopes  and he was sure that Sir Michael would not let them down.
He said he would follow up the matter with the Prime Minister’s Office.
