PM urged to organise ESP Alliance executives

National, Normal

A NATIONAL Alliance (NA) party founding member in East Sepik has called on party leader, Sir Michael Somare, to convene an immediate meeting in the province to get its provincial executives in place before the national convention from Aug 11 to 15 in Banz, Western Highlands province.
Henry Takombe, a former East Sepik branch interim president, told The National yesterday the party currently did not have an executive in the province and everyone was working in isolation.
“It is the same story for the districts in East Sepik.
“There may be a rift when political parties flocked into the province for the 2012 national elections,” he said.
Mr Takombe said a planned one-day convention in Wewak last November to sort out party matters and elect new office bearers was cancelled, disappointing members who travelled from remote areas of Ambunti Dreikikir and Wosera Gawi for the meeting.
They are, therefore, calling on the party leader to deal with the pressing problems affecting the party in the district and provincial level so that the party is ready for the 2012 challenge.
Mr Takombe also asked for the reimbursement of the money to founding members who contributed towards the failed one-day meeting.
“It is important for the party to keep its founding members and such frustrations may cause them to lose their support,” he said.
