ALL settlement in Port Moresby will be developed into properly planned towns, according to Prime Minister James Marape.
He said the process initiated by the previous Government would be continued to make sure the settlements were planned and developed properly with all the amenities installed.
“Our Government wants to give proper housing to our citizens starting with cities and towns.
“All settlements in the city will be converted into proper residential areas, properly planned and service areas, so long as they are employed.
“We’ll convert every settlement on State land areas into towns. (Housing) Minister Justin Tkatchenko will be responsible for that.”
Marape said Minister for Lands and Physical Planning John Rosso, the Lae MP, was from a metropolitan area and would work with Tkatchenko to make sure State properties were protected and their revenue collection improved.
Rosso said land was a big issue in the country and coming from a city, it was a challenge for him.
