THE Exodus Basketball Club is likely to be suspended and fined after their followers smashed two glass panels at the Sir John Guise Indoor Complex recently.

PNG Men’s Basketball League board is taking a tough standard and Exodus could face being suspended for three years and fined K5,000, a source said yesterday.

The PMBL board and commissioner Larry Miro Junior were tight-lipped as the incident had damaged the league’s image and its future development.

The suspension and fine is to be a warning to players, team executives and supporters to respect the league’s code of ethics.

The glass panel was damaged after the premier men’s grand final game three between Exodus and Moni Plus Tamaraws two weeks ago and again last week by fans dissatisfied with decisions in the Under-20 match against PNG Ports Saints.

The PNG Sports Foundation has advised the PMBL management and they are willing to meet the costs from the gate fees dividends for Exodus.

There was a big fight outside the stadium by frustrated Exodus supporters.

PMBL referee Dickson Dobunaba was confronted by four hooligans and bashed at 3-Mile.

For that reason all the PMBL minor division best of three series, game two and three are indefinitely suspended and may not be played.
