PMSA’s attempt to be an affiliate of the PNGFA backfires

AN attempt by the Port Moresby Soccer Association (PMSA) to be an affiliate of the PNG Football Association (PNGFA) has backfired, with the national body categorically denying the PMSA had won the status to be a member.
In a letter dated June 6, the PNGFA general secretary Dimirit Mileng said, “the national body regretted that there was no evidence to show your nomination (John Mogi and Russel Tsuga) to the positions you currently occupy.”
The letter also noted there was no squabble between Fabian Chow and John Wesley within the association as it was currently before the civil court.
Mileng said the suspension of PMSA was not discussed and lifted at the recent PNGFA Congress, and therefore it meant that the PMSA and/or members associated with it remained suspended from the PNGFA.
They would also not be eligible to participate in any PNGFA sanctioned tournaments or activities.
However, he noted the draft statutes in principle but this document had to be presented at the PMSA Congress for endorsement and approval. Other notable documents that should be presented included:
* MA Administration Structure;
* Club structure;
* Competition structure;
* Competition regulation; and 
* Development plans (players, referees and coaches).
The correspondence between PNGFA and PMSA would mean that PMSA would be ruled out of the Besta Cup.
In other related stories, PNGFA franchises for Telikom National Soccer League have still breached PNGFA  laws for including non-registered players in their teams for the competition.
It seemed that there were two sets of laws for non-affiliated members because a lot of players in the national team were from non-affiliated member associations.
A soccer critic, who wanted to remain anonymous, said the PNGFA was contradicting itself by allowing players from non-affiliated centres to play in the NSL competition last season.
A lot of players in the two NSL franchises based in Port Moresby – Hekari and the Eastern Star FC – and women franchise clubs were participating in the PMSA competition.
He said the PNGFA  had lost track of what was going on domestically and “it is a great shame”.
