THE Port Moresby Soccer Association (PMSA) competition kicks off tomorrow with 84 teams taking part this season.
PMSA competitions manager and acting general secretary Paul Karambi said a restructure in the competition would see teams increase the level of competitiveness this season.
“As of last year, PMSA has done away with the finals format.
“We believe such arrangement will play a pivotal role in the treatment of each game as a grand final for each team in each division,” Karambi said.
This year PMSA has received 10 expressions of interest from interested clubs.
There are 40 clubs in the competition.
Karambi said PMSA had produced many players who took part in the Kumul Petroleum National Soccer League as he gave a glimpse into this weekend’s clashes.
“PMSA has contributed over 60 per cent of players to the recently concluded National Soccer League’s Southern Conference,” he said.
“These players will return to their respective clubs with NSL experience.
“This weekend PMSA supporters will witness a game between Mungkas and Keleiruna on Monday afternoon at 3pm in the premier division.
“Promoted Leilam will face off with Momase while Seeadler, another promoted team this year, battle it out with University in the men’s premier division.
“In the women’s premier division, Leilam will be led by Rayleen Bauelua, Margaret Joseph and Yvonne Gabong against old timers Guria.”
